Era fanático de siempre anteponer mi CREATE
declaraciones con un control explícito de existencia y eliminación si se encontró.

Eso puede ser un poco complicado con respecto a los permisos, por lo que otros usan un enfoque en el que crean un método de código auxiliar solo para ALTER
